Stretch Therapy - Fascial Release

Treatment Time: 20 Minutes

Stretch therapy is the scientific application of these techniques to treat certain physical limitations associated with tight muscles and restricted movement. When performed properly, stretch therapy can help prevent injuries and improve performance.

Stretch Therapy is essential for improving blood flow and circulation to various areas of the body where there is a lack of circulation. Muscle stiffness is generally caused by a lack of movement, and when there is no movement, there is a lack of blood flow. By increasing blood flow, the muscles can function properly and perform at their best. Stretch Therapy helps increase blood flow to the areas lacking it and revive your muscles to prevent stiffness and increase flexibility for proper mobility.

Treatment Synopsis:

What is Fascia? - AFC Athletic Recovery Center

Stretch Therapy is a manual fascial release technique that primarily loosens stiff joints and muscles to improve flexibility and range of motion. Fascia refers to the thin layer of connective tissue that encircles (surrounds) and holds every blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber, muscle (myofascial), and organ in place. Stretch Therapy helps release any tension around the tissue to enhance and restore normal function and motion. Stretch Therapy is excellent for improving circulation and posture, preventing joint impingement, promoting muscular balance, and reducing the risk of potential and/or re-occurring injuries.

Muscle stiffness is characterized by soreness and difficulty moving, sometimes accompanied by cramps, pain, or weakness. Most often, muscle stiffness will occur in the morning and last for less than 30 minutes after waking up and commonly occur a couple of days after engaging in new or more challenging exercise. Manual therapies such as Stretch Therapy, Percussion Therapy, and Red & Near-Infrared Light Therapy are excellent for improving blood flow to the restricted areas and improving range of motion.
